Joker # one (more to come soon)

Posted on 2007.10.28 at 10:45
Those who have an eye on my personal journal know that I've gotten a serious fettish going on with the Joker right now. It's kick started my Artistic slump so I'm not complaining or arguing if hes not a real serious topic for art. I think it's sad that theres some serious beautiful art work done in "comic book" world. Esp when it comes to the Joker. Theres been some seriously awesome art of the Joker. Shit that drives me crazy its so awesome. I'm glad they have started been calling them "Graphic Novels" because "comic" just doesnt do them Justice at all.

I don't plan to go into detail here on the whys or what not on why I'm interested in the Joker. Thats a personal thing I don't want to have to re-write all over again. But lets just say he turns my crank. It's the purple suit. I sware its the purple suit. I always fall for guys in Purple Zuit suits.

Now like I told a friend who expressed consern about my new projects because they have a fear of Clowns, esp killer clowns I realise that some people could see the Joker as just a cown and I know I have friends and loved ones who are afraide of clowns of any kind, even the kinds that are suposedly "good. I promised with all Joker Art  Postings will be under a cut with a clear warning. I don't want to tramatise anyone reading their friends list on accident.

Seeing how the next picture is rather large thats okay anyway. It's a sketch I've been working on, of my own idea and concept of the Joker. But because its a detailed sketch I had to make it a larger size so everything could be seen. So second warning out for people who have slow internet connections.

I also have to warn there are image refferances that are violent in nature or post-humanous.(I decided not to post the refferance photos yet)

How ever, if your curious on my take on the Joker and the fun that insues from Evil Killer Clowns with a sense of humor, please check it out!

And enough words.....

So Like I said.... This is a Sketch of the Joker done recently after a long stent of being sick and unable to do anything. I've obviously not posted much art lately. Mostly because I've only been able to do small sewing projects from sickness. It's been very difficult. So When the Joker caught my fancy and has insited this fantastic artistic revival this is what were getting.

Now this is a work in progress. I have no idea exactly what I'm doing or what I plan to do. Like I said a million time, its a sketch. It should be in color which I think would make a huge difference for the Joker.

Now If you have seen much on the Joker or even just the movie or occasional images your probably going to go "what the heck?" because he doesnt look the same. I was trying to experiment with some of the things i see in the joker like the similarities to the Black Daliha.

Cut section of his foot that needs fixing.... its the wrong angle.....

I'm sorry but the Jack in the box was just too damn cool to not post a closer shot of.... (Notice the ace of spades refferance for my friend Zarrie)

comments, thoughts, ideas, segestions exex all welcome as long as they are constructive. I have newer Joker pictures I need to scan in asap I think are alot better than this one.

Lovely work. Do you do commission work? And if so, what would you charge for a piece like this?

I'm sorry, but I am not a commission artist. I will be able to sell prints of already finished work soon. But I don't sell originals.

I've been hoping to see this ever since you started talking about it on your other journal! I am definitely not disappointed. I LOVE the dollies (seriously! Badman doll is the CUTEST thing!)! Are you planning on turning this into a painting?

I've seen a couple pictures done with the Joker or Harley holding batman dolls that were all beat up but none of them really were cute enough for me so I had to try it myself, esp with my Doll gig in real life.

I actually want to do Joker paintings. I wanted to ink and color this one how they would a comic but I don't know if I'll have the strength. health has kept everything so minimal it's frustrating.

I do have other face sketches and stuff of him that are new. I think I'm getting closer and closer to how I see him as a character.

I appreciate your feedback. Your one of the people who aways post real good thoughts and things I can work with.

Welcome to the wonderful world of graphic novels. We need to go get a bunch! My ex ron is an expert in the area!

I-- braved the clown warning...you really did capture the insanity- the manic insanity!!! BWAHAHA!

Love it!

Thank you for looking. I appreciate it more than you know! I realise how you feel about clowns and all.

We do need to go comic hunting. I'm completely out and too broke to get the two I want really bad on ebay. *grump* I'm so far in the hole money wise right now its really quite sad. I've been a graphic Novel reader for years don't let my newbie fresh excitement about Batman(Or well hate for batman) fool you. :P

I have newer sketches I've been working on of his face that I think are even more awesome than this.

It's certainly a hard personality to try and capture in any form. So many don't do him Justice.

That is utterly brilliant. I love the little dollies so much, and Joker's hair! I can't wait to see this coloured in. I hope you'll get better and feel well enough to do that. *hug*

Why thank you! given that your a Joker lover, I was really conserned with your opinion. I'm glad it's a positive. I've come on to post new sketches of him that I've done recently.

I do want very much to get some full body sketches inked and colored. He just doesnt seem the same as the joker without color. I want to paint him really bad right now. My painting teachers only rule for me this semester is to use lots of color. hahahahaha! Oh well okay... if you insist.

You like his hair? thats the major one that I wasnt sure about. I'm still not sure about. I like the longer hair. It makes more sence. why would the joker stop to cut his hair? nor does a pony tail fit. I tried that too. in all I liked the hair that was longer and looked more like a Jesters hat.

ha! I just noticed your icon! awesome. Thanks again for your opinions!

Wow!

.....just wow! I love that the Joker has such a toy-like, puppet/doll quality. Something very marionette like about him. He has a noose on Batman dolly but you wonder what /who might be able to pull his strings (so to speak)as well. Really like that his hair is long as well. Can't wait to see this one with color. Hope you are feeling a bit better.

Re: Wow!

Thank you! That was very intentional. I wanted him to look like a toy himself. I decided to ink this one after I worked on a inked newer one. Some reason I can't double capture the childlike joy on his face with the other sketch. I think its still a good picture but I don't know. You'll see when I pos it.

Everyones really likeing the long hair and so am I. I think it its him a whole lot better. harder to do in some ways but like my teacher says, some how all my subjects no mater who they are end up with qualities of myself in them. I don't intend it to be that way it just happens.

I hope I can color the new one and post it today for the Holiday. No promises. I keep going back and forth on trying to finish my holloween costume in a rush or saver it and just use it for costume parties and next yet. Seems like id be happyer if I waited and finished it properly.

I did so want to go out tonight though. :(

Ooh - I just noticed that the J on his hat is backwards, though. Did you post the scan/photo in reverse? Not a criticism - merely pointing it out in case you had not noticed...

Where? He doesn't have a hat. If you mean the J, on the Bomb bye his knee, I didn't notice it was backwards but I'm left handed and prone to write backwards leters in real life. Aparently alot of left handed people have it. It's a form of dislexia.

Thanks for pointing it out. I'll have to fix it in the Ink copy, I'm starting.

Ah yes - that is it. It looked a bit like a hat/fez on the floor next to him to me - my bad! ;-p

not your fault. I realise now looking at it without color, it doesnt look much like a bomb. it gets mixed up with the tail of his coat. I'll fix it in the color verson. Thank you.
