Puppet Transformation

I truely apologize for the lack of posts lately. being sick has thrown me for a loop artisticly. everything got put on hold so I'm scrambling to finish older projects and to have a clean slate for school coming up. I want to be as clear and free of old projects as possible before I tackle a new semester. I'm itching to make all kinds of stuff so its really frustrating to be stuck several projects behind.

I'm looking around to see if I finished any projects I can show you. I finished grima dolly but I've been behind on finishing the tutorial pictures. I hope to post that soon. I know I also promised a skirt making tutorial ages ago and I do intend to do that too. When I make a new skirt I'll do it. It was just the color of the skirt I started the first tutorial was really bad for photos and you couldn't see what was going on.

I'm excited by the idea that some of the girls I know want to learn some sewing skills so were going to have a little sewing art meet up and I'm going to show them some basics. I enjoy being able to share the things I know with people. I hope some day when I'm teaching and all that and my health has improved I can do like siminar sewing gigs and things like that. I think it would be real fun.

I'm itiching right now to make a corset but I know myself and I know I get bored with corsets when I dont have the right suplies on hand to do it when I want to do it. last one floped and I quit on it because i didnt have the right boning in the front. stupid I know. but Ive been pretty honest about the fact that I can make corsets but its not something I enjoy doing. They are just nessisary for my historical garments.

I took the time to downsize some of my photos of the dolls in progress. Going from Puppets to dolls. I've put a lot of detail into them. bead work on their garments and stuff. Their almost done. I'll be really happy when they are done.

Okay, as some of you know, I made these puppets for my colorado history class last semester. I was so heart broken and sad that they wernt received well I decided  to convert them into finished dolls. Like I said, I put alot of work into them. Their not done yet so be kind in your comments....

here they are in patern form. cut out and sewn but not stuffed yet. you can see the two grima plushies with them that are still in progess as well. One grima is able to sit up now and I think hes really cute.

I found a picture of him. Isnt he just adorable so far??!!

Heres another shot of just the two Grima plushies. They will be made a little different than the Colorado Dolls.

Here are the colorado dolls getting stuffed...

Here they are in simplistic puppet form right before shooting the video that I wish I had time to do better. I wanted to do a background and all kinds of cool stuff but I got so sick it didnt work out that way. Maybe I can redo it someday just for my own comfort. I hate doing anything half-assed.

Here is Puppet BabyDoe poseing on the stage. Notice how bland it is. *sigh*

Puppets are getting legs. It's a new design using the basic shapes of the arms and hands to make cute little victorian boot feet. they are beaned so they have weight so the dolls are rather floppy which was the idea.

Baby Doe gets an extended skirt and you can see where her feet are pined into place and ready to be sewn on.

Baby doe shows off her cute bloomers under her skirt and her legs and boots in progress. They changed at the end to black and red but are still very cute. I'll have to post pictures of the detailed bead work I did on her bodice when she done.

Agusta poses for the camera in her new extended length skirts and feet. She ended up with gray and black boots.

*gasp* She'd be mortafied to see I posted this picture but I think its the best one to show what their legs look like underneith their costumes.

Thats the majority of the pictures for now. I'm still working on poor Oscar who's been neglected this whole time. I also have more beadwork to do on Agusta as well as an alteration to Horace. He and Ocar will be sporting waist coats when I'm finished.

So yeah, theres a photo run down of the transformation of the puppets to dolls. I cant wait to show you the finished set of 4 colorado dolls and two grima plushies.

It will be nice to have them finished and go on to other projects.

Thats it for now. sorry its not much. I promise to post more as soon as I have things taken care of!

Yeah Baby doe ended up being very cute despite my dislike of her originally. dollys have a mind of their own and become what they want to become.
